Puffer Jacket & Outerwear Manufacturing

Outerwear needs more development control than a simple cut-and-sew garment. Shell fabric, lining, padding, quilting, zips and cuff finishing all affect the final shape, warmth and cost, so we confirm the construction through sampling before bulk production.

Styles we produce

  • Puffer jackets
  • Lightweight quilted jackets
  • Padded vests and gilets
  • Zip-front outerwear
  • Stand-collar padded jackets
  • Light bomber-style jackets
  • Utility jackets and overshirts

Fabrics typically used

  • Polyester woven shell fabrics
  • Nylon or nylon-look woven shells
  • Water-repellent finishes where available
  • Polyester lining fabrics
  • Synthetic padding and wadding
  • Rib or elasticated cuff finishes

Finishing and branding

  • Horizontal or panelled quilting
  • Front zips and pocket zips
  • Elasticated cuffs and hems
  • Stand collars and hood options
  • Woven labels and care labels
  • Hang tags and individual polybags

Production capability depends on the fabric, construction, finishing, quantity and individual project requirements.

Development notes

The decisions that actually determine the outcome for this product, and are best settled before sampling.

Padding changes the pattern

A puffer jacket cannot be fitted like a flat woven shirt. Padding thickness changes the sleeve, shoulder and body volume, so the sample has to be developed in the intended padding weight rather than estimated from a flat sketch.

Quilting affects both look and warmth

Baffle width, stitch direction and panel placement control how full the jacket looks and how evenly the padding sits. These details are confirmed on the sample before costing bulk production.

Performance claims need confirmation

Water resistance, windproofing or insulation ratings should only be claimed if the selected fabric and construction are tested. We can develop the garment, but any technical claim is confirmed per project.

MOQ starts from 50 pieces per colour for suitable styles. Final MOQ depends on the product, fabric, construction, number of colours, finishing and sourcing requirements.

Questions about this category

Can you make puffers in multiple colours?

Yes. Each shell colour is planned separately, and trims such as zips, lining and cuffs need to be matched or deliberately contrasted. Custom colours may affect minimums and lead time.

Can you work from a puffer sample or reference photo?

Yes. A physical sample is best, but reference photos are enough to start a development conversation. We confirm fabric, padding, quilting and fit details before making the first sample.
